COLUMBIA, S.C.  — He’s not competing in a primary in the state, but President Donald Trump is planning to make an appearance in South Carolina just before Democrats hold their primary election there.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has opened up a double-digit lead in the Democratic nominating contest, according to a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

Sanders has 31% support nationally, up 9 points since December, the last time the poll asked about Democratic voters' preferences.

Steyer Foundation Mulling SC Investments - After The Primary

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Ahead of this month’s crucial South Carolina primary, Kat Taylor — the wife of presidential candidate Tom Steyer — said that the foundation she runs is interested in considering an investment proposal from one of the state’s largest black church congregations. But she said the foundation wouldn’t act on it until after the primary.

Early caucusing begins on Saturday in Nevada as the race for the Democratic presidential nomination moves west.

Democrats in the state have been scrambling the past two weeks to adjust their plans in the wake of the caucusing debacle in Iowa.

Here’s what a typical field office for a presidential candidate looks like: It’s about 800 square feet. Hidden on the second floor of a shopping center, with signs taped to an outside door, directing people inside.

This office – for Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren – was mostly empty one day this week, except for a couple of college-age supporters.

Could The Iowa Meltdown Happen During North Carolina’s Primary?

With in-person early voting beginning today and North Carolina’s March 3 primary election day moving closer, voters may be paying attention to what’s happened in other states to this point.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has suffered back-to-back poor showings in the first two states to vote in the Democratic primary, and there are now serious questions about whether his "electability" argument is still plausible.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders pulled off a narrow victory in New Hampshire on Tuesday night, providing a jolt of energy to his front-of-the-pack status by holding off Pete Buttigieg, former mayor of South Bend, Ind.

North Carolina’s primary is less than three weeks away. It’s Super Tuesday and former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg will be on primary ballots for the first time. He’s been spending big on TV ads in North Carolina. 

Recently his campaign mailed letters to people, criticizing President Donald Trump for creating chaos while in office, and asked for people’s vote. It included this phrase, "North Carolina election law allows all registered voters, regardless of registration to vote in the Democratic primary."

Andrew Yang, a tech entrepreneur who built his campaign around a signature policy proposal — universal basic income — has ended his bid for the presidency.

"We have touched and improved millions of lives and moved this country we love so much in the right direction. And while there is great work left to be done, you know, I am the math guy, and it is clear tonight from the numbers that we are not going to win this race," he told supporters on Tuesday night.

Steyer's Wife Moves To SC For Rest Of 2020 Campaign

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Illustrating the focus Tom Steyer's presidential campaign is putting on South Carolina, the Democrat's wife has stepped down from her banking job and relocated to the state for the rest of her husband's 2020 bid.

New Hampshire is casting its vote in the Democratic presidential primary today, and in less than three weeks — Feb. 29 — all eyes will turn toward South Carolina. It’s a crucial vote, since it’ll be the first primary in the South and the first in which a majority of voters are expected to be African American.

After Iowa's debacle, the Democratic presidential nominating contest has moved to New Hampshire.

North Carolina is one of 14 states to hold a presidential primary on the so-called “Super Tuesday.” The ballot also will include primaries for the U.S. House and Senate, the North Carolina General Assembly and various state offices, including governor. And, in Charlotte, there are Democratic primaries for at-large and District 3 county commission seats.
