Iraq Study Group Meets Today

The ten members of the Iraq study group meet in Washington today to debate military and economic strategy on Iraq, and proposals to include Syria and Iran in aggressive regional diplomacy. Three former foreign policy advisers from different administrations discuss what they think this group should focus on over the next two days.


Dan Goure,Vice President of the Lexington Institute, a public-policy research organization based in Arlington, VA; Director of the Office of Strategic Competitiveness in the Defense Department in the first Bush administration

Richard Haass,Current President of the Council on Foreign Relations; Former Director of Policy Planning for the State Department; Special Assistant to President George H.W. Bush and senior director for Near East and South Asian affairs at the National Security Council

Nancy Soderbeg,Current visiting scholar at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville; Former US Ambassador to the United Nations (1997-2001); Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs in the Clinton administration
