Gaston Commissioners Reject Property Tax Hike

Commissioners at Thursday night's meeting instead voted to keep the tax rate the same at 83.5 cents per $100 of assessed value. The deciding vote was cast by a commissioner who wasn't at the meeting. Tom Keigher had to leave early and voted on the phone while driving. The Gaston Gazette reports commissioners also approved a 3-percent pay increase for county employees.
