Observer: Feds Didn't Classify Tisdale Report

A report in today's Charlotte Observer disputes what City Manager Curt Walton and Police Chief Rodney Monroe told the public and the City Council last month in regard to a security breach by a 16-year-old at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.. At the February 28th city council meeting, Walton and Monroe updated the council on the CMPD's investigation into how Delvonte Tisdale may have stowed away on a flight from Charlotte to Boston last November. They read from a prepared script and offered few details. Walton said federal officials wouldn't allow the details of the report to be made public. "This report has been classified and very little if anything can be shared from the report beyond what has been stated tonight," Walton said. Now, a story by the Observer's Steve Harrison contradicts that the report is classified. And, the paper reports the city made the decision to keep the information from the publicon its own. According to today's story, the city has now asked the TSA to review the report - which that organization has not done yet - to see whether it should be classified.
