Charlotte Man Clears His Path, One Step At A Time

David Bradley, a copywriter for one of the big banks in Charlotte, had a life-changing moment a few years ago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Bradley saw, first-hand, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, islands of large patches of trash.

He says “it was buoys, pieces of polystyrene, bottles, water heaters, all those things,” and covered in seabirds.

When he got back, he says, he started noticing litter everywhere.

That was four years ago. Most days now, Bradley picks up litter along a 3-mile loop in South Park. Maybe you’ve seen him carrying his plastic grocery bag along Sharon or Fairview near Philips Place. Bradley now catalogs what he finds at his blog pickupyourpath.com. WFAE's Weekend Edition Host Duncan McFadyen recently went along with him on one of those walks.
