Part One: Holiday Shopping Trends. Holiday shopping season isn’t waiting for Cyber Monday or Black Friday this year; in fact it isn’t even waiting for Thanksgiving. Many stores will be opening on Thanksgiving Day for shoppers eager for a holiday deal or two. We'll look at trends in holiday shopping, consumer spending outlook amid a recovering economy, online vs. brick and mortar shopping and at possible backlash over what some are calling "holiday creep" and "Black November."

Part Two: Playwright Mallery Avidon and CAST. Then, in the second half of the show, we'll meet playwright MalleryAvidon. Her partially-autobiographical show O Guru Guru Guru (or why I don't want to go to yoga class with you) is a comedic triptych that reflects her own childhood, growing up in an ashram. It opens this week at Carolina Actors Studio Theatre. We'll talk with her about her work as a playwright, unconventional childhoods and the intersection between fact and fiction.
