We’ve all heard the news reports and information about the recent coal ash spill into the Dan River. But, there’s another side to coal ash. Fifty percent of our energy comes from coal and subsequently there are 100 million metric tons of ash produced every year. Fly ashes have been incorporated into building materials for decades and more work is being done to explore other reuses. UNC Charlotte professors doing that work join us to discuss it.
