These communities helped hand the White House to Donald Trump, but they could play a big part in the “blue wave” that Democrats hope to stir up.
The Democrats’ flip of a Pennsylvania congressional seat in March was just the latest warning sign for Republicans. Last fall’s election for governor and legislature in Virginia also had political tea leaf-readers warning of suburban difficulties for the GOP.
Some Republican-held North Carolina congressional seats, including the Charlotte-area's 9th District, cover suburban stretches and are on the Democrats' midterm radar.
