Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio has released her proposed budget for the 2019 fiscal year.

If it’s approved, the $1.7 billion budget includes the first property tax increase for the county in five years.

CMS receives a sizeable increase in funding, but not the 7 percent teacher pay increase that was requested.

The Sheriff’s office, CPCC and the Health department all benefit from increased funding, and there would be significant improvements in cyber security after last year’s ransomware attack on county servers.

County Manager Dena Diorio and Mecklenburg County’s Budget director join guest host Erik Spanberg from the Charlotte Business Journalto talk about all things budget.
