Gas Situation Improving in Western NC

Gas is still not easy to come by, but the situation is getting better. Carol Gifford of Triple A Carolinas says last week about a fifth of stations in Charlotte had gas and where there was gas there were long lines. She says about a third of local stations now have supplies. "We've seen about 50 to 100 tankers a day coming into the Charlotte area and that has really improved the inventory," said Gifford. Those tanker trucks are hauling in gas from ports in Virginia and the Carolinas and as far away as the Midwest. The Colonial Pipeline that carries gas from the Gulf Coast to the western part of North Carolina is operating at full capacity. The Governor's Office says most stations should have supplies by next week.
