Man Accused In Double Homicide Turns Himself In

The suspect CMPD has been searching for in last week's double homicide in north Charlotte has turned himself in. Captain Chris Dozier says 40-year-old Vurnel Smith Jr. contacted police around 3:45 Tuesday afternoon. Shortly afterward, officers picked him up and brought him in for interviews.

Smith is accused of killing Jacqueline-Gordon White and Rufus Gordon, whose bodies were found last Thursday. According to police, Smith had another victim, his wife who's also the couple's daughter. They say she'll recover from her injuries.

CMPD says Smith will be charged with two counts of murder, and faces several other charges including rape, kidnapping, and assault on a female.
