Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a statement that Alan Corder, 49, called 911 early Monday morning about a break-in at American Beauty and Garden Center on Independence Boulevard and said he planned to respond.

Police said when Corder arrived at the store, he shot Justin Anderson, 20, as he was running out the front door. Corder called 911 again to say he shot the man. Anderson was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to CMPD, Corder was arrested at the store today without incident.
