A 17-year-old male has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man that occurred in University City last Sunday.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, 21-year-old Subhi Elmasharawy was shot during a burglary that took place in a home off Pimpernel Road around 9 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to a local hospital by medics and succumbed to his gunshot wound Wednesday.
CMPD says officers were able to take the 17-year-old into custody without incident Thursday morning. He is currently in custody at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and faces first-degree murder and burglary charges.
