Police Investigating Homicide At West Charlotte Nightclub

CMPD is seeking the public's help in solving the murder of a man who was found dead in west Charlotte Monday morning. 35-year-old Melson Quince was discovered hours after officers responded to an initial call of gunshots at Club Nikki’s on Little Rock Road.

In a news conference Tuesday, Major Cameron Selvey said body camera video shows there were hundreds of clubgoers on the scene as officers investigated the initial call. Police would like to hear from some of them.

“I am ashamed of my community because very few people came forward to help us out,” Selvey said. “My detectives have worked tirelessly over the past 44 hours trying to generate leads, trying to talk to people with what I think is very little success for their effort.”

Police believe Quince was shot during the earlier incident at the club, but officers didn't notice his body, which was about 300 feet away. CMPD says dozens of shell casings from firearms of at least three different calibers were found outside the club.

Police say Quince is from New York. And CMPD is offering a $5,000 reward for any information on the case.
