As the impeachment inquiry into President Trump moves along in the U.S. House of Representatives, more Democrats including presidential candidates are backing the move by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Congresswoman Alma Adams representing the 12th District told WFAE she fully supports the impeachment proceedings.
“I think the speaker has done the right things. She’s been very deliberate in her thinking and her strategy," Adams said. "We just can’t continue to turn our heads with this president doing the kinds of things he’s doing. As far as I’m concerned this is how gangstas act.”
Yesterday, the White House responded to the impeachment inquiry with the transcript of his July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The president said he’s done nothing wrong. Adams feels differently.
“Now we see that from the notes that the White House released, it is concerning that the president did engage in behavior that undermines the integrity of our elections, the dignity of the office that he holds and puts our national security at risk.”
Pelosi announced the impeachment inquiry on Tuesday accusing the president of violating the Constitution in seeking help from foreign powers to damage his political opponent Joe Biden.
Trump has called the inquiry presidential harassment. At a press conference today he said what the Democrats are doing is quote "a disgrace.”
