The Confederate flag, which flies outside the South Carolina statehouse in Columbia, will come down Friday at 10 a.m., according to a spokesman for Governor Nikki Haley.

The governor will sign the bill at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

WFAE's Duncan McFadyen is at the state house and discussed the atmosphere with WFAE's Sarah Delia.

The law gives state officials 24 hours to remove the flag, once Governor Haley signs it into law. The South Carolina House of Representatives passed the bill last night, after Senators took it up earlier this week.
