North Tryon Vision Plan

Tuesday, June 19, 2018

An update on the North Tryon Vision Plan, a bold redevelopment of a major portion of Charlotte’s uptown. Where does it stand? Mike Collins finds out.

There's a major transformation happening - a revitalization of a large stretch of the northern end of Charlotte's uptown neighborhood. The North Tryon Vision Plan is a 60-acre, 50-square-block redevelopment plan that encompasses one of the last large remaining development opportunities in uptown.

Projects include restoration of the Carolina Theatre, modernization of Discovery Place, a new Main library, more retail and office space, and renovation of the Belk Theater lobby. Planners are hoping this new project will help spur more development uptown and that North Tryon will experience a boom like other areas of the city have.

How do you make that vision a reality? We'll get a status update on this major project as well as how it fits into the larger vision of developing Charlotte's uptown.
