We meet the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's new chief, Johnny Jennings, on his second day on the job to talk about his vision and the challenges police face as residents demand social justice.
Johnny Jennings was just sworn in as chief. With Kerr Putney’s retirement, Jennings – a 28-year veteran of the department – is taking over in a tense atmosphere in which people here and around the country are demanding social justice and accountability from police.
We talk about the challenge that presents and about Jennings' vision for the future of the police department.
