The Carolina Panthers announced today, General Manager Dave Gettleman has been fired. He had been with the team since 2013.

“I want to thank Dave for the role he played in our success over the past four seasons,” said owner Jerry Richardson. “While the timing of this decision is not ideal, a change is needed.”

The Panthers training camp starts next week.

Carolina finished the 2016 football season with a record of 6 wins and 10 losses. The Panthers went to the playoffs during Gettleman’s first three seasons with the team. In 2015 the team won an National Football Conference Championship.

Prior to joining the Pathers, Gettleman worked with NFL scouting departments for nearly 30 years. He was associated with 16 playoff teams during his NFL career.
