Man Charged With Murder Of Woman In Southwest Charlotte Home

Police have arrested a man in connection with a murder that occurred Sunday afternoon in southwest Charlotte.

Deshawn Lamont Clipper, 31, was arrested in Guilford County Monday morning. He’s being charged with the murder of 35-year-old Stephanie Potts.

Police responded to a call for service at a residence off Steele Creek Road around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers found Potts deceased inside of the home.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police have not said how the woman died, but say Potts and Clipper were in an intimate partner relationship. Police say the Pott’s death “was not a random act of violence.”

Clipper will be held in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail. According to police, it’s the 46th homicide in Charlotte this year.
