The local host committee for the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte announced Wednesday that Louis Dejoy will lead its fundraising efforts.

Dejoy, from Greensboro, is the president of LDJ Global Strategies, a real estate management company.  According to OpenSecrets.org, individuals with LDJ Global Strategies and the business itself gave more than $1 million to Republican candidates or the Republican Party in last year's midterm elections.

Dejoy is married to Aldona Wos, who led the Department of Health and Human Services under former Gov. Pat McCrory.

The local host committee has been tasked with raising $70 million for the convention, which will be held at the Spectrum Center Aug. 24-27.

Vice President Mike Pence flew to Charlotte Wednesday to meet with the committee, and is scheduled to later tour a textile plant in Monroe. He will then attend a fundraiser Wednesday night in Greensboro, with Republican Sen. Thom Tillis.
