CMPD Investigating Charlotte's 54th Homicide Of The Year

CMPD says it’s conducting a homicide investigation after officers found a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound in a vehicle at the intersection of Fugate Avenue and Monroe Road last night. The department says the vehicle had crashed into a power pole.   The man has been identified as 43-year-old Raymond Johnson.  It’s the 54th homicide in Charlotte so far this year.  There were 32 at this time last year.   WFAE is tracking the number of homicides in Charlotte this year through an interactive timeline.
