Body Of Charlotte Man Recovered From Lake Norman

Searchers have found the body of a Charlotte man who drowned Sunday night after he jumped off a boat into Lake Norman.

State Wildlife Resources officer Ron Robertson said the body of 28-year-old Ali Elzein was found around 7:30 Tuesday morning. He said a passerby spotted the body floating one cove over from where authorities were searching.

Elzein was with four other people on a rented pontoon boat near Queen's Landing in Mooresville. He and another man jumped off the boat around 6 p.m., but he disappeared.

Firefighters and emergency workers had been searching since Sunday night.  Authorities haven't offered an explanation for the drowning.
