28-Year-Old Man Drowns On Lake Norman

Authorities resumed a search Monday morning for the body of a 28-year-old man who drowned Sunday night while boating with friends on Lake Norman.

State Wildlife Resources officer Ron Robertson said the incident happened around 6 p.m. in a cove near Queen's Landing, off N.C. 150 in Mooresville. Four people were on a rented pontoon boat when two jumped off, Robertson said. One of the men never resurfaced.

Rescue workers began a search, but suspended operations late last night. Robertson said the search could take days or longer.

Authorities aren't sure yet why the man drowned.  His name hasn't been released.
