ABOUT WFAE'S LEGACY SOCIETY

This is our 45th year on the air. Since 1981, WFAE has served Charlotte and the surrounding region with independent local journalism that informs, connects, and strengthens our community, and it is here because listeners believed it was worth paying for. Many people like to leave a gift in their will to the causes that have mattered most in their lives. It costs nothing today, you can change your mind at any time, and it gives this newsroom the confidence to plan for the future.

Those who tell us they have included WFAE in their plans are welcomed into the WFAE Legacy Society. There is no minimum gift, and you do not need to tell us the amount. With your permission, we would be honored to recognize you as a Legacy Society member, or your commitment may remain completely private.

WAYS TO GIVE

●  A gift in your will or trust (a bequest): A simple provision is all it takes. Leave a set amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular asset, and keep full use and control of everything you own in the meantime.

●  Beneficiary designations: Name WFAE as a beneficiary of a retirement account, life insurance policy, bank account, or other eligible account. In most cases this takes one form from your bank or plan administrator, with no attorney required.

●  A gift from your IRA: If you are 70 and a half or older, you can transfer funds directly from your IRA to WFAE. These gifts are not counted as taxable income to you and can count toward your required minimum distribution.
