A team led by NASCAR driver Joey Logano set the Guinness World Record for the longest Hot Wheels track Thursday in Huntersville.

The tiny car traveled a distance of 1,941.6 feet. That beats the previous record set last year in Russia by a little more than 100 feet.

The new record was set after many attempts over the course of several hours. It took a crew of 10 people, including several engineers, more than a week to build the track. The track started in Logano's shop, weaved through a car collection -- including a DeLorean -- and ended inside the cockpit of Logano's 2018 Hot Wheels Ford Mustang.

The Hot Wheels had 122 boosters helping it through the track.

"Talk about a dream come true," Logano said. "I have so many memories playing with my Hot Wheels cars as a kid. ... Hot Wheels basically founded my passion for racing -- the first car I ever had was a Hot Wheels car."

The event was organized to mark the release of Logano’s new Hot Wheel diecast car slated for July 2020.
