Libertarians Win Spot on Future Ballot

Libertarian candidate Mike Munger lost the Governor's race last night. But the outcome was actually a win for his party. Munger got only two-point-eight percent of the vote last night. But two-percent was all he needed to secure a place on the ballot for the Libertarian party in the next two elections. Third parties must initially collect 100-thousand signatures to get on the ballot in North Carolina. Munger is the first Libertarian to cross the two-percent threshold in the state and says it's a big win for the party. "And frankly since we don't have to get the signatures, I hope we can get a couple seats in the General Assembly," says Munger. "That's going to be our goal. Let's win some elections. If you're gonna be an actual party, you need to be on county commissions, city councils and win some seats in the General Assembly." Munger plans to run for State Senate in 2010.
