Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they are aware of black tire marks that have been made on the the newly painted Black Lives Matter street mural on Tryon Street in uptown Charlotte, but had no updates on the vandalism Saturday.
Onlookers first noticed what appeared to be black tire marks along the entire length of the mural on Friday afternoon.

South Tryon between Third and Fourth streets -- where the mural is located -- was then blocked off by the city.
According to a regular email sent by the city of Charlotte listing street closures, that portion of the street is scheduled to remain closed until July 10.
