Police are investigating a homicide that happened Sunday night in west Charlotte.
CMPD says officers responding to a call of assault with a deadly weapon around 10 p.m. found a man who had been in shot in an apartment off Tuckaseegee Road. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified as 44-year-old William Jacobs. His family was notified of his death.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named. Police say the victim and the suspect were known to each other. They both were inside the apartment together with other people when the shooting occurred. The witnesses at the scene were taken to CMPD headquarters to be interviewed by homicide detectives.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
It’s the 15th homicide in Charlotte this year.
