Pulitizer Prize-winning syndicated columnist Leonard Pitts recently observed that he's written "hundreds of thousands of words of sorrow, sarcasm and censure," but seldom has offered any solutions. So he embarked on a series entitled "What Works" to learn about successful programs, especially in regard to education. Pitts will discuss his findings Tuesday morning in Charlotte during a breakfast summit on public education at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. But first, Pitts was a guest Monday on WFAE's Charlotte Talks program. Host Mike Collins asked him if there's a common theme in successful education programs.
