The Carolina Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey has been named to the Associated Press’ NFL All-Pro Team at two positions – running back and the “flex” position.
McCaffrey, in just his third season in the league, became the third player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards and have 1,000 yards receiving in the same season.
This year, McCaffrey rushed for 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns, and caught 116 passes for 1,005 yards and four receiving touchdowns.
He was selected as the first-team running back and received the most votes from the 50-member nationwide media panel for the flex position, which was created in 2016 to reward players who epitomize the way offense is now played in pro football.
“It means a lot,” McCaffrey told reporters. “It is a big honor, and that is something you don’t work hard for it, but when it comes you are really grateful and appreciative.”
