A Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer has been accused of sexually assaulting two women while on duty. Police arrested 25-year-old Marcus Jackson yesterday. WFAE's Lisa Miller reports: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Jackson pulled over a 17-year-girl and a 21-year-old woman, forced them into his police car, drove them away and sexually assaulted them. They say the two separate attacks happened in the last two weeks. Jackson has been an officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police department for about a year. He was fired yesterday. Jackson is charged with sexual battery, extortion and kidnapping. Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe says the news is devastating for the department. "To have one of our own involved in such a disgraceful activity is not only a violation of the public's trust and the misuse of authority as an officer, but a complete dishonor to this department and the officers who proudly uphold the integrity and honor that goes along with this badge" said Monroe. Police say the two attacks were reported this week. A relative of a 17-year-old girl told police Monday Jackson had assaulted the girl on December 18th. On Tuesday, a young woman came forward and said Jackson had attacked her the day before. Jackson worked on the city's east side in the Eastway Division, where police say both incidents took place. Monroe is urging any other victims to come forward. "As we continue to investigate these incidents we are not so naïve to believe that these are the only incidents that Mr. Jackson may have been involved in," says Monroe. This isn't the first time a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer has been arrested on charges of sexual battery. Two years ago, Joseph Anthony, a veteran officer, was accused of sexually assaulting a woman while on duty. He accepted a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault on a female.
