Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have arrested and charged three men with murder in the 2016 robbery and killing of 33-year-old Union County elementary school teacher Ruijuan Guo.
Lieutenant Bryan Crum said CMPD has charged Cecil Lamont Marble, Michael Mandrell Marble and a third defendant already in federal custody, Keric Teron Watt, with multiple felony counts -- including murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
But Crum said the work on the case isn’t over.
“I would like to say we still need the community’s assistance for this case," he said. "This is very much an active investigation. There is still a $15,000 reward in this case, or up to $15,000 for information that leads to arrest or additional assistance in this case.”
On the evening of Sept. 9, 2016, Guo was attending a concert with her fiance and friends in South End. Upon returning to her car on East Park Avenue, she and her fiance were approached by armed gunmen. Guo was shot, and she died five days later.
A friend of Guo’s who was with her that night, Joe Fuqua, was found dead a few days later. Police believe Fuqua helped set up the robbery, knew who the defendants were and was killed because of it.
Police charged Michael Marble with Fuqua’s death in November 2016.
