Cars were whipped around the parking lot at Loris High School in South Carolina on Tuesday.

A small tornado tossed around cars and damaged athletics fields outside a South Carolina high school Tuesday, according to National Weather Service officials.

No one was hurt when the twister, with winds estimated as strong as 90 mph, spun past Loris High School during class hours. The school is located in eastern South Carolina, near the North Carolina state line.

Photos and video showed cars tossed atop each other outside the school, which did not appear damaged.

School officials in Sampson County, North Carolina, about three hours from Charlotte, say strong winds caused by a “water-loaded microburst" caused part of a school roof to cave in, leaving three students with minor injuries.

This past weekend, a tornado with 130 mph winds caused extensive damages at a high school in Kershaw County, South Carolina. The school’s football stadium, buses and most of the main building were heavily damaged.

Kershaw officials say it will probably be 18 months or more before repairs on the school are completed. Students are expected to begin classes Wednesday in the district’s former vocational technology campus.
