New Blockbusters: Traveling Exhibits

King Tut is coming to a museum near you -- but it'll set you back 30 bucks a ticket. The first Tut show in 1976 set the precedent for blockbuster museum exhibits; this year's marks a heyday for the intersection of museums and entertainment. We preview this summer's blockbuster exhibits.

Guests:

Nancy Thomas, Los Angeles County Museum of Art's curator of Egyptian art; deputy director of art administration and collections

Mike Boehm, reporter for the Los Angeles Times; wrote article "Curse of the Blockbuster?"

Elizabeth Easton, president of the Association of Art Museum Curators; curator and chair of the Department of European Painting and Sculpture at the Brooklyn Museum

Marianne Reynolds, director of Exhibits, Denver Museum of Nature and Science; Denver Museum hosted "Quest for Immortality" exhibit
