News And Observer To Downsize, Again

The (Raleigh) News & Observer is cutting 20 jobs. The newspaper is owned by McClatchy Co., the same company that owns the Charlotte Observer. The cuts will be spread throughout the paper, including the newsroom. "We understand how difficult this message is to receive given other reduction programs we have done over the last few years. However, we are working hard to implement new products and improve our revenue performance to help us navigate through these difficult times," publisher Orage Quarles III wrote in a memo to employees. The Charlotte Observer has a story here.
