Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx has an opponent, at least in the 2012 general election. Republican Scott Stone is running for mayor. Stone, 42, is an engineer. He's vice president and national infrastructure director for the firm Merrick & Co.He's also served as chairman of Charlotte's Business Advisory Committee. "With double-digit unemployment and no obvious recovery taking hold, we need some strong leadership now," Stone said in an interview with the Charlotte Observer. "We need a mayor with a plan on how we're going to create jobs again."
