FEMA has pushed back the deadline for North Carolina residents who are in temporary shelter because of Helene. The organization says it’s extended its Transitional Sheltering Assistance Program to Jan. 11. During that time FEMA will continue to provide free hotel and motel rooms to nearly 5,000 families who already checked into rooms as they work to find permanent housing.
