Lou Bellamy and Johnson C. Smith University Johnson C. Smith continues to lead the way on what is becoming a profound revitalization of the west side of Charlotte. The venerable University is expanding its own campus and it's working closely with city leaders to reposition the west side as a bastion of education and culture. Now the University is bringing in Lou Bellamy, one of the most prolific and successful black actors and directors in the business. Mr. Bellamy is teaming up with the school's theatre deptartment and community activists to reawaken cultural awareness on the west side. They will start with an August Wilson play but have much more up their sleeves. We'll find out more.
