Carolina Raptor Center and Johnson C. Smith University host speaker Dr. Drew Lanham
Every March, the Carolina Raptor Center celebrates Harriet Tubman’s legacy by giving People of Color a place to elevate their voices and share their expertise and stories. This year, we will be celebrating with Dr. J Drew Lanham at our Harriet Tubman Legacy Speaker event on March 11th, 2023.
Dr. Lanham is a professor of wildlife at Clemson University and has both his B.A. and M.S. in Zoology, and his Ph.D. in Forest Resources. He has spent the past 20 years working to understand how forest management impacts wildlife and how human beings think about nature. Dr. Lanham seeks to translate conservation science to make it relevant to others in ways that are both evocative and understandable. His intrigue with how culture and ethnic prisms can bend perceptions of nature and its care has given him international recognition through his “coloring the conservation conversation” message.
