Pick up your instrument and join us for a jazz jam. Whether you’re an experienced jazz musician, exploring your skills, or your instrument is rusty, this jazz jam session is for everyone. And if you’ve never been to one, JazzArts Academy alumni, students, and instructors will show you how the music is born! House Band leading the jam session will include Ocie Davis on drums, Troy Conn on guitar, and more. Jazz music and it’s most pivotal innovations were born out of jam sessions. Jazz is a communal music, where musicians incorporate call and response, and bounce ideas off of each other. This is the essence of jazz music. So a public jam session is simply a musical get-together where musicians come together to play jazz standards. Everyone is invited.
