Mother/Daughter Conversation About “Child: A Memoir” : An Evening with Judy Goldman
Mother/Daughter Conversation About “Child: A Memoir”
Robinson-Spangler Carolina Room Celebrates Summer Reading
Join Judy Goldman, Charlotte author of seven books, as her daughter, Laurie Smithwick, a Charlotte artist, interviews her about her new memoir, CHILD — a personal meditation on love in the shadow of white privilege and racism. CHILD tells the story of Judy’s relationship with the Black woman who worked for her family, “lived in,” and helped raise her. It’s also the story of the child who was left behind to be raised by someone else. Judy and Laurie will examine what it meant to grow up in Rock Hill, S.C., in the 1940s and ‘50s.
This program will be hosted in person at SouthPark Regional Library.
