The Gastonia Police Department’s latest crime data shows a significant decrease in overall reported crime from 2023 to 2024. According to its yearly crime report, overall crime in Gastonia dropped by just over 6% compared to the previous year. Person crime decreased by over 8%.
Person crime is defined as crime against an individual such as murder, aggravated assault, rape, and robbery.
Society crime, which includes drug-related offenses and other public order violations, saw the largest decrease at nearly 18%. The report showed property crime remained stable.
