Beginning this summer, all new developments in Charlotte-Mecklenburg are required to create small garden-like islands in their parking lots to trap and filter storm run-off. WFAE's Julie Rose visited one of the county's first "rain gardens" at the Northcross Shopping Center in Huntersville. She spoke with Sharon Foote of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services. Foote says the county has partnered with private businesses and the city of Huntersville to put 16 rain gardens in existing developments.
