Davidson's Ross Next UNC System President?
Multiple media outlets are reporting that Davidson College President Thomas Ross is expected to be the next president of the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors. The board has scheduled an emergency meeting for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. to vote on a president. The Board of Governors has also scheduled a press conference following tomorrow's meeting. Davidson College spokeswoman Stacey Schmeidel declined to say if Ross is leaving the school, but said "any announcement would be made by the UNC Board of Governors." The Raleigh News and Observer and WRAL-TV cite anonymous sources in reporting that Ross will be the next leader of the 17-campus UNC system. Board of Governors spokeswoman Joni Worthington said she cannot comment on speculation about candadates. Ross has been president of Davidson since 2007. WFAE will have more as this story develops.
