Carolinas Healthcare System has agreed to provide certified athletic trainers at all CMS high schools. So far three high schools have athletic trainers supplied by CHS: South Meck, Phillip O. Berry, and East Meck. By 2015, Carolinas Healthcare System plans to have a full-time trainer at all 22 high schools in the district. CHS says athletic trainers will attend practices and games. They'll assess injuries, coordinate treatment, and help students with re-habilitation. Trainers will also run diet and health programs, train students in CPR and how to use defibrillators. Carolinas Healthcare System says it will pay for the salaries of all the athletic trainers.
