SOURCE: Davidson Police Department Davidson Police responded to a report of suspected gunmen near Davidson Day School this morning and found a teacher and students engaged in a school activity involving Airsoft plastic pellet guns. At 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, the Davidson Police Department received a call from a resident who lives near the school. The resident reported seeing four "suspicious" individuals in camouflage running from tree to tree in the woods behind the school. Officers responded and questioned the caller, who indicated that she saw the individuals carrying guns. The officers contacted CMPD Communications and requested that Davidson Day be notified to lockdown. The officers found a teacher and seven to eight students dressed in camouflage and dark clothing and confirmed that they were carrying air soft plastic pellet guns, not real firearms. School officials said that the incident was resolved so quickly that they never had to begin the lockdown. School officials also said that they were aware of the general topic of the class. However, they stated that they were not aware of the use of air soft pellet guns and would not have approved this use.
