UNC phyics professor Paul Frampton Since January, the physics department at UNC-Chapel Hill has been one professor short. But Paul Frampton hasn't been taking a sabbatical or teaching overseas. Instead, he's a prisoner in a South American jail. The Raleigh News and Observer reported this week that the 68-year-old professor - who's known worldwide for his scientific articles - was caught at an airport in Argentina with two kilograms of cocaine hidden in the lining of his suitcase. Frampton says he's innocent and is confident he'll be back in Chapel Hill teaching this fall. Frampton called the News and Observer to tell his story. He spoke with reporter Jay Price, who spoke with WFAE's Scott Graf. Scott began by asking about Frampton's mood.
