Mecklenburg County says it has been spared — so far — any major funding cuts from President Trump’s executive orders, which have sought to reduce federal spending.
Lisette Nimmons, the county’s intergovernmental affairs manager, said the county has been protected by federal court orders blocking some of the president’s executive orders from being enacted.
She said the county health department had briefly been unable to use fellows assigned to it by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but they have since been reinstated, she said.
"It’s safe to say that while we we’re notified of areas where there is potential for loss, we can’t identify that loss to the county right now," she said.
Mecklenburg commissioners discussed the president’s executive orders this week. The county's Washington-based consultant is helping track the orders and their potential impact.
