At least eight people have applied to finish the final six months of Tariq Bokhari’s City Council term. Bokhari left Charlotte to take a high-level transit job in the Trump administration.
The applicants include Bokhari’s wife, Krista Bokhari, and conservative writer Andrew Dunn. Former City Council member Andy Dulin has thrown his hat in the ring, as has former council member Edwin Peacock, who lost a mayoral bid in 2013.
Whoever finishes the term must live in District 6 and be a Republican. The application window closes on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
